The Science

Adipose Tissue

Adipose tissue, also commonly known as body fat, is a type of loose connective tissue made up primarily of adipocytes (or fat cells). Its primary function is to store energy as lipids, but it also cushions and insulates the body.

Adipose tissue is located beneath the skin in the subcutaneous layer. Surrounding internal organs (visceral fat), between muscles, within bone marrow, and in breast tissue in humans.

Men are more likely to retain visceral fat, resulting in obesity in the center of their belly, giving them an "apple" shape.

Women's buttocks and thighs tend to accumulate more subcutaneous fat, giving them a "pear" form. The sex hormones produced by males and females cause these disparities.

How Body Contouring Helps

The exact amount of fat cells is predetermined by nature; this means that new fat cells do not form throughout one’s life. Rather, the increase in fat deposit volume is caused by growth in existing cells, and not by the increase in amount of fat cells. Weight gain is caused by the expansion of white fat cells. Dieting can shrink fat cells but not eliminate them, which is why people can gain weight back so quickly.

This is why the combination of our Anima Curva machine (Fat cell collapsing technology) with further lymphatic drainage procedure (EndoLuxx) can help to reduce the amount of fatty cells and prevent their enlargement.

Radiofrequency (RF) energy is a modern technology that non-surgically tightens the skin and combats signs of aging. Skin laxity and tightening are primarily targeted through RF energy alone.

Types of Fat

Subcutaneous Fat- is the pinch-able and squishy fat between the skin and muscle that keeps bodies warm, cushions it against shock, and stores additional calories. Subcutaneous fat is present in everyone, however some people have more than others. Genetics determine the quantity of fat cells in the body, therefore some people are genetically predestined to have less fat cells, while others have more fatty cells. However, the number of fatty cells does not always imply obesity; obesity is defined by the quantity of fat stored in each cell, which is influenced by calorie intake, physical activity, and heredity.

Visceral fat- differs from other types of fat in that it retains its shape and does not fall to the sides or sink into the stomach when someone lies down. High visceral fat is harmful, as it is linked to cholesterol, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and other diseases. This is because visceral fat is packed between organs inside the abdominal cavity rather than underneath the skin (subcutaneous fat), and this fat will produce acids that are processed by the liver which can promote insulin resistance in the liver.

Cellulite

You might think that cellulite is all about fat. But it isn’t. That’s why your cellulite stays put, no matter how much you exercise, how much weight you lose, and how healthily you eat.

Cellulite is actually a condition in which tough bands of connective fibers pull your skin down toward your muscle layer. By tugging downward on your skin, the tethers force your fat layer upward, toward the surface of your skin.

Cellulite is also caused by enlargement of fat cells that become trapped underneath the skin. When fat cells grow in size, the skin bulges outward, giving it that dimpled, bumpy appearance.

The larger fat cells also block and restrict blood flow, causing not just circulation issues but also the formation of even fatter cell clusters underneath the skin.

Another reason of cellulite formation is a laxity (or weakening) of the connective tissue.

Adipose connective tissue has an anaerobic formation basis. This means that the less oxygen that arrives into tissues through arterial blood vessels, the more connective fibers are formed. These vertical connective fibers pull the skin down and create cellulite dimples. Poor blood and lymphatic circulation (caused by enlarged fatty cells and low physical activity) slow down the oxygenation of the skin and fatty cells, thus increasing cellulite appearance

Cryo Slimming

The Cryo Slimming treatment consists of 3 consecutive steps, that provide a drastic contrast between hot and cold temperatures to create what is called “Thermal Shock”. This helps to stimulate fat cell apoptosis (or cell death).

During the treatment clients experience a localized warming sensation, that is followed by a deep cold sensation that is accompanied by massage. This will help to bring the fat cells closer to the surface with the heat and then they can be crystalized with the deep cold temperature. Which creates cell death.

The treated fat cells will be eliminated from the body with the help of the Lymphatic System for the 15 days following the treatment. Each Cryo Slimming session will show immediate results typically between 1/2 to 3 inches of fat loss. We typically recommend a BMI of 35 or below.

The rotating and rhythmic motion of EndoLuxx advanced hand pieces provide a "pumping" effect, that increases lymphatic activity.

This helps to detoxify body and stimulate blood circulation. Increased blood flow enhances local tissue oxygenation which boosts the break down of collagen fibers, that create skin dimples.

What is Body Contouring?

Body sculpting can be used on many different body areas, including the abdomen, thighs, arms, and buttocks. The number of sessions required varies from person to person, but for the most part, benefits are visible after just a few visits. Body sculpting is a safe and effective way to reduce stubborn fat deposits without surgery or downtime.

How is body sculpting different from liposuction?

So you know that body sculpting kills fat and helps shape and firm targeted areas of your body. But isn’t that what liposuction does? Sort of, but with a few key differences.

Liposuction uses a suction technique to remove fat from targeted areas. It is a surgical procedure that requires anesthesia and a longer recovery time (usually 1-2 months) than body sculpting. Associated risks include complications from anesthesia, bleeding, and uneven fat reduction.

Body sculpting has minimal side effects and because it is non-invasive, it allows you to get back to your normal routine immediately following treatment.

How should I prepare for body sculpting treatments?

Increase your water intake for 2 days beforehand. Because radio frequency targets the water in fat cells, keeping hydrated before and after your appointment will help the effectiveness of the procedure
Clients should not consume carbs or sugar 2 hours before and 2 hours after the treatment
Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol the day of your appointment and 24 hours after your appointment
Clients will get best results if treatments are combined with workouts and other physical activity.
